StreetBoxTV – RAW Beat Boxing In The Streets!

I’ll admit it, there hasn’t been an update on the ZStream in quite some time..  Between integrating new ways of living into my lifestyle and keeping the creative juices flowing, I have been working on my vocal percussion / aka beat boxing techniques.  Not ever did I think I’d get confident enough to take something like this to the street corners of America and rock out for a bunch of strangers.  Strangely, this is exactly what I have been interested in as of late.  Thanks to my lovely lady, I am able to share these videos with everyone!  I love you!  Only you could put up with all of the noise I’ve made in the Zac cave at all hours of the night… and in the car, and in the shower, and in the.. well you get the jist of things.  Thanks to her for assisting in making this vision a reality!  I somewhat had to talk myself into creating a YouTube channel for all of this, quite honestly.

Here it is, the newest creation from the mind behind the ZStream..

StreetBoxTV

Hopefully this channel will inspire others to get out there and rock it nasty in the streets!  I would love to hear from other beat boxers who would be interested in submitting videos to this channel!  Please send me an email on here or send a message through YouTube!  I will continue to post more videos from StreetBoxTV on the ZStream as well!

Here is one of many videos from StreetBoxTV.. Enjoy!

SOYLENT RED

Once again, another successful benefit for the American Cancer Society!

With the second American Cancer Society benefit a success, a few questions are obviously looming around in the universe somewhere.  Will there be another benefit, and how many of the original bands from the first benefit will be featured this time around?  Paperwork and Soylent Red played the first benefit in 2010.   Both Paperwork and Soylent Red were very up and coming at the time, and it has been great watching the progression from both of these bands.  This event also somewhat marks the one year anniversary of the zstream as well!  Last year’s “Working On A Groove For Cancer” was the first event posted onto the zstream.  I am very happy to skim throughout this site and look back on where it has taken me and the great opportunities that have been made possible by this silly vision of mine.  Happy belated birthday zstream.org!  It couldn’t have ever happened without people like Justin, and the groups that dedicate hours of hard work into their live performances.  Thanks everyone!

Stay tuned, summer time is right around the corner.

STAY TUNED, PICKIN’ ON CANCER – SATURDAY APRIL 9TH @ KROG JAM

FROM THE ROAD – TWO NIGHTS OF PUNKIN’ WITH NOFX AND FRIENDS

First stop for myself, Houston Texas.  A stranger to this city I am indeed…  Expecting nothing, I mosey out west to get my share of punk rock and cheap thrills.

Houston Texas, House Of Blues Jan 22nd 2011.

The Bouncing Souls

NOFX

Houston to New Orleans, I go.  I am a stranger to this city as well.  All around the city folks are starting to get ready for Mardi Gras.  Most of my day was spent drifting around the french quarter and relaxing at the hostel I was staying at.

New Orleans, I will return.  I promise.  It is one of the more interesting cities Amtrak will travel to without too much hassle from Atlanta.  After hearing stories from my grandmother about her experience at Mardi Gras, I will definitely put this on my list of things I should attend before I am too old to swagger with a slightly drunken stagger.

Another evening with NOFX, at another House Of Blues.  January 24th, 2011.

NOFX

Many of my younger years were spent in a circle pit with friends.  You can bet your grubby booze bucks that I was in the middle of all this as soon as I finished snapping some photos!

Awesome Opportunity.  Awesome Bands.  Awesome Time.

More photos of NOFX from the show in New Orleans can be found in the Z-Folio section.

OHMPARK’S 4TH ANNIVERSARY EXTRAVAGANZA – JAN 8TH, 2011 @ THE EARL

Big Ups to Davy and the O.G. Ohmpark crew for keeping things going this long!  Honestly, Davy is one of the few who has seriously inspired me to get off of my ass and keep myself entertained… Hence, the zstream.  Thank you for the inspiration Davy!

I arrived in time to catch Jungol and From Exile.  Like with any form of the arts, sometimes you’re on, sometimes you’re off.  I wasn’t having as much of an “ON” night as I was the latter, which worked out extremely swell.  When one is getting down on ones self, for any given reason.. what do we typically do?  Throw in some classic jams and feel better… duh.  This week has been somewhat stressful for myself.  With my Great Aunt’s passing and me stuck in Atlanta handling work related issues while I should be near my folks and loved ones, I managed to find my happy little place inside my head last night while listening to some friends rock out.  Thanks fellas..

If you have not visited OHMPARK please do.  Davy is a total music nerd and keeps us ATL folk up to date and entertained regularly.

FROM EXILE

JUNGOL

As I’m finishing this entry up, I can hear my neighbors above me making love.. Loud and clear.  Davy should do a top 10 Love Making Tunes review on his site?  What do ya say Davy?  Maybe the zstream should do a Top 10 Love Making Tunes review instead?  Yeaaaaah right, I don’t think ya’ll want to see my list of booty slapping songs!  Okay okay, maybe one.. I’ll include the video..

HAPPY NEW YEARS YA’LL

BEAR CREEK 2010 – LIVE OAK FLORIDA @ SPIRIT OF SUWANEE MUSIC PARK , NOVEMBER 12-14

Wow, I had heard that the Spirit of Suwanee Music Park was all that and a bag of baked potato chips, (they’re my favorite!) but I honestly had no idea of how awesome this campground actually is!  If you’re reading this, and you haven’t found a good enough excuse to visit this venue, TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, and GO!  GO THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY YOU GET!  You will LOVE THE PLACE!  It was a little too windy and cool to venture into the water this time around, but in the summer I would take full advantage of the river and swimmin’ holes on site without a doubt!  Talk about a good place for some summer lovin’!  Fall is here and the leaves were changing colors, almost as eclectically as the people that were attending!  I’m not going to lie, I was only interested in catching a few of the performances when I initially looked at the line up.  The folks who coordinated Bear Creek really did a great job of keeping the genres well rounded, and gave a little something for everyone.  I personally had an excellent time wandering around aimlessly looking for photo opportunities and following my ears towards the nearest pleasant vibration.. which wasn’t a chore by any means!  There were four stages on the grounds for this event, each beautifully decked out with lights and manned by a production squad stooped specifically to tickle your senses, visually and audibly.  The festival and the grounds staff were very on point with presentation and delivery.  It’s pretty safe for me to say that I will attend the Bear Creek Music Festival from here on out!

One of the artists I was not familiar with before this festival is Zach Deputy.  This fellow is a one man show. (minus the beautiful women, of course)  His playing style consists of looped beat boxing, percussion, guitar riffs, and other various forms of noise making.  Honestly, as a fan of beat boxing, this dude had it going on.  The ladies love him, and every time he played he managed to bring out a fairly large crowd.  Photographing this gentleman was quite a challenge, since he had so many devices and instruments in front of him.

Umphrey’s McGee

Maria loves her peacock feathers!

Dubconscious, a local reggae group from Athens Georgia also played at Bear Creek.  I have seen these guys a hand full of times open up for The Wailers at the Georgia Theater many years ago before it was destroyed by a fire.  Give the boys a listen why don’t ya!

Additional images of performances and beauty from the festival can be found in the Z-Folio section of this website.
